The Federal Government Of Nigeria has Approved Six (6) More Private Universities In Nigeria, and Also The National Universities Council, NUC issued a Provisional License to this Universities, This Is to Enhance the Education Sector
This to inform the general public and especially all candidates who sat for the 2018 JAMB UTME that the Federal Government recently Commissioned Six More Private Universities In Nigeria to Aid in the Admission of More Students in Each Academic Session
According to the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu who announced the names of the Universities which are:
- Admiralty University, Ibusa, Delta state
- Spiritan University, Nneochi, Abia State
- Precious Cornerstone University, Ibadan, Oyo State
- Pamo University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt, Rivers State
- Atiba University, Oyo, Oyo State
- Eko University of Medical and Health Sciences, Ijanikin Lagos
As the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has Approved this New Private Universities, we now Have a total of 74 Private Universities that are operational in Nigeria.
NUC Issues Provisional license To The New Private Universities
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has issued a provisional License to the Six New Private Universities, The License Is meant for the Universities to have a Legal Backing as they begin Academic Activities both in their Temporary or Permanent Sites
PROF. Rasheed Abubakar, the Executive Secretary of NUC, Who Congratulated the Proprietors of The New Universities, Said The Process wasn’t easy but they were able to stand and earn the Provisional License that Spur the Universities into Action
Also in his speech he advice that they should abide by the terms of operation, they shouldn’t below the minimum standards that is expected of them as that will attract the withdrawal of the Provisional License, He Also said they are free to approach NUC for professional guidance, promising that the commission was willing and ready to support the new universities through the learning curve.
Finally the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Sunny Echono, encouraged the universities to champion the revolution of University education system in Nigeria by maintaining academic and professional standard in their Universities and said they will give full support when they are called upon.
