Secondary Schools Resumption Date

The Federal Ministry of Education of Nigeria has broadcast that Secondary Schools in the country are to re-open as of Tuesday, 4th August 2020 for exist classes only.

The students affected will have two weeks to prepare for the West African Examinations which has been scheduled to start on the 17th August 2020. Secondary Schools Resumption Date

The decision to re-open the Secondary Schools was reached today Monday, 27th July 2020 at a virtual consultative meeting between the Federal Ministry of Education, the Nigerian Union of Teachers, (NUT) the Honorable Commissioners of Education of the 36 states, the proprietors of private schools, and the Chief Executives of examination bodies.

It was agreed that the existing classes should re-open immediately after the Sallah break, from Tuesday, 4th August. to enable them to prepare adequately for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) examination which is expected to commence on Monday, 17th August 2020.

According to the info, there will be another meeting between the Federal government and the examination bodies namely; NECO, NBAIS, and NABTEB to coordinate their examination dates, which will be conveyed to stakeholders expeditiously by the Federal Ministry of Education.
